I salute you on your wise decision not to show up for Netanyahu's address exactly for the reason you spelled out:
"I believe the timing of Prime Minister Netanyahu's address - just days before Israeli elections on March 17 - was highly inappropriate. On January 30, I sent a letter to Speaker of the House John Boehnerasking that the speech be postponed until after the elections so that there was no appearance of U.S. favoritism. There was no reason to schedule this speech before Israeli voters go to the polls and choose their own leadership. When it became clear the speech would not be postponed, I made the decision not to attend."
As US citizen, I felt it was my duty to object to PM Netanyahu's speech scheduling because the legislative branch (John Boehner) not only overstepped its authority but defied and humiliated the executive branch, President Obama, for the whole world to see. It is not the way to project the image of the USA as a country of law, rational thinking, democracy, and public accountability.
